The week kicked off with our usual routine of technical training sessions on Monday, but as they say, life loves to throw surprises at us.

We never know what is going to happen, do we? — Eowyn Ivey, The Snow Child

We received an (un)expected news on Monday morning: our assessment discussions with the Director of Engineering were set to begin this week. They would be scheduled in lexicographic order based on our names on each night. I realized that, in this arrangement, my turn would fall somewhere in the middle and that could gave me ample time to observe how the assessments went for my colleagues and adequately prepare for my own. Upon hearing this news, the colleague whose name would come first in the dictionary panicked a bit and immediately began preparation.

However, shortly afterward, we received an update: the lexicographic scheduling would begin from the very next day and that I was the one who got scheduled the assessment discussion that night. I had no clue why my assessment discussion was scheduled that day, and the lexicographic order was followed from the very next day. Anyway, without thinking much about how that happened, I began my assessment project revision.

Though I did wondered how I felt about it. Should I be nervous, facing the assessment discussion unprepared and with little time to get ready? Or should I be delighted to get it over with, knowing my assessment results sooner and saving myself from extended preparation anxiety? Feelings are tricky, as they often come and go as they please, but I decided not to dwell on them too much. Overall, I had some good feelings in being the first one up. I spent the day revising my code and its folder structure, as it was something I had written about 10 days before.

The assessment discussion went smoothly, and I was asked to report to one of the engineering leads. All in all, it turned out to be a positive start to the week. The second half of the week we had Angular training sessions. I found it really tough to grasp this framework at first. I found myself struggling to keep up with the practice assignments and assessments. I decided to dedicate extra time over the weekend to get comfortable with this framework.
