The seventh week at CareStack commenced with something different — a virtual workday, a deviation from our usual office routine. I was genuinely interested to experience a virtual or a Work-From-Home day, wondering how it would unfold. However, to my surprise, the scheduled training sessions on that day were postponed. Instead, an assessment task was assigned to us, which kept us engaged for the entire day. The following day was a holiday, as it was Independence Day. While this week encompassed only three working days at the office, in addition to a virtual workday, it didn’t feel short, mainly due to the engaging training sessions that ensued.

Midweek saw the introduction of a session about the Flyway data migration tool, a subject that was new to me. Learning such a tool brought me more insights into how data is handled within the database at various environments in the product life cycle. Database management had been on my mind ever since my early days of tinkering with databases and sometimes even recklessly resetting them after altering the schema during my personal projects.

The following two days were devoted to sessions focused on ASP.NET Core, and the accompanying assessment proved to be quite demanding. It required a solid grasp of ASP.NET Core concepts, prompting me to dig deep into the framework’s folder structure and attempt to identify corresponding elements within ASP.NET. This realization underscored the importance of focusing on programming fundamentals rather than fixating on specific frameworks or languages.

In the week’s final training session, the instructor did a broader discussion of various programming topics, offering insights across diverse domains and igniting a curiosity to explore these realms further. Day by day, it feels like there are a lot more interesting things to know.

On the literary front, I have been reading “The Hard Thing About Hard Things,” having completed around 20% of the book. Up to this point, the book has predominantly delved into the author’s personal business experiences, offering an insightful narrative. Yet, starting from this point, the author seems to dispense bits of advice on how to tackle the “Hard Things” encountered while building a business.

The next week we are having the Onam events and I am excitedly looking forward to it.
